Why start therapy?
There are many reasons to start therapy. Maybe you’re experiencing depression, anxiety or traumatic grief. Perhaps your relationships are difficult, stressful and less than nurturing. Maybe you’re dissatisfied with your life direction or occupation. Therapy is an opportunity to get unstuck and move forward. Therapy is a combination of learning new skills and having new emotional experiences. The therapy office is a place to have new emotionally corrective experiences that help people end destructive old patterns and form healthy new ones. People engaged in therapy often gain new insight and awareness and take ownership of their lives.
What happens in a therapy session?
A therapy session lasts 50 minutes (DBT 45 minutes) and occurs weekly or bi-weekly. However, sessions can be longer and more frequent depending on the needs of the client. It is important that the client practices skills and does homework between sessions. The client must be an active participant in the therapy.
How can a therapist help me?
Therapy offers short-term and long-term benefits. Therapy provides a fresh perspective on a difficult problem and a safe and collaborative environment for personal exploration. Some of the benefits of therapy include:

Do I need to have therapy goals right away?
The first task of therapy is figuring out what would be different if therapy is successful. It may take a few sessions to clarify a direction and your goals may change during different points in therapy.
Rates & Insurance
We discuss fees and rates as part of an initial telephone discussion.
David is an in-network provider for Cigna and Medicare.
David and Eva can provide out-of-network services for the other major insurance companies. The following steps need to be taken to determine out-of-network eligibility by asking the following questions of your health plan:
Do I have behavioral health benefits?
What is my mental health deductible and has it been met?
How many yearly sessions does my plan cover?
How much coverage does my plan offer for an out-of-network provider?
How much does my plan reimburse for psychotherapy?
Do I need pre-approval from a primary care physician?

After you’ve met your deductible, your plan will reimburse you at a certain percentage. Your health insurance or employee benefit/assistance plan may cover all or part of your costs.With out-of-network benefits, the client pays for the session and submits a receipt for reimbursement to their insurance provider. Feel free to call the office so that we can help verify your benefits.

By paying privately, no diagnosis is required (unlike insurance) and you gain an extra layer of confidentiality as no insurance company employees are handling your information.

Cash, Visa, Master Card, American Express and checks are accepted for payment.
Cancellation Policy
Regular attendance is a major factor in achieving therapy goals. Therapy occurs on a weekly or biweekly basis depending on clinical appropriateness. Both the therapist and client will keep cancellations and rescheduling to a minimum.
The client and therapist are both expected to give notice when canceling an appointment. If timely notice isn’t given, the client will be charged the full amount for the missed session.
Privacy & Confidentiality

The therapist/client relationship is a legally protected relationship governed by the Healthcare Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA).A variety of state laws and statutes that are state specific regulate mental health privacy and confidentially. Information disclosed during a session as well as any clinical notes generally cannot be shared without expressed written permission from the client.

A client can protect improve their privacy by limiting who knows about their treatment and pay out-of-pocket for services. Insurance companies have some rights to audit client files.
