Individuals

Together we will work to better understand your day-to-day stressors and unique challenges that may detract from your life and relationships.

You begin identifying and practicing ways to live a more purposeful and healthier life.

We work individually with children, teens, adults and seniors managing diverse life challenges.

Eva also provides individual and family therapy for children five and up and adolescents.  She assists children and their families to manage challenges that include pediatric OCD, ADHD/ADD, anxiety disorders and mood disorders including depression and bipolar disorder.

David also works with adolescents as well as adults and seniors.

We both help families manage difficulties with friendship, bullying and the impact of social media on their overall health. In addition, both Eva and David treat self-harming behaviors, oppositional behaviors, poor impulse control and interpersonal difficulties across all ages.

Couples

Whether you are coming with a partner or on your own, we work con how you are impacted by this relationship.

Relationship counseling includes couples therapy, pre-marital therapy, separation guidance and anything in between.

Couples Counselling can help a couple to:

  • rediscover what attracted them in the first place

  • consider how both contribute to the current relationship

  • find out what they want from their relationship and from each other

  • understand the relationship they currently share and how they feel about each other

  • identify what they are prepared to do to make the relationship work.

Couples Counseling can also help people who are separating and/or divorcing. Talking through the problems of separation with someone who has no personal involvement can help people through this difficult time. It will help couples to deal with their grief and anger, so they can move forward with a sense of purpose and plans for the future.

  • It can help couples

  • manage the grief and loss associated with a relationship breakdown

  • identify a pathway for the separation/divorce

  • learn about acceptance

  • learn to be single again

  • gain the strength to consider a new and sustaining relationship.

  • people live happy, fulfilled lives following relationship breakdowns. Some people choose to re-partner and many do not. There is no right way.

Groups

We have DBT skills groups for adults.

The skills training group consists of four modules, which includes mindfulness, distress tolerance, emotional regulation and interpersonal effectiveness skills.  Completion of all four modules typically requires between 8-12 months meeting weekly for an 1.5 hours.

Eva Hallstrom-Conkright, LCSW has received her training from Behavioral Tech which was founded by the creator/developer of DBT, Dr. Marsha Linehan.

The four skills modules are designed to specifically assist individuals in better managing behavioral, emotional and cognitive instability. Their intent is to help people with problems with anger or the expression with anger, episodic depression, irritability or anxiety, intense or chaotic relationships, impulsivity, stress and feelings of emptiness.

New skills are presented each week and homework is assigned for individuals to practice during the week. Homework is reviewed at a later group session or at the next group. The goal is for people to gain new skills, get better at the skills they have and be able to use the skills when they are really needed, like during times of intense emotion, crisis or conflict.
